Here is a summary of the six tournaments held in Belgium in May. We are glad to see 5 different clubs organizing tournaments.

The Templeuve club had the visit of some prestigious clubs on May 13 as Josef Camilleri from Malta was staying in Belgium for a couple of days and attended the Templeuve tournament with clubmates Pierre De Leeuw and Bessim Golger. Due to the great field of 14 players, the top 8 players competed in Swiss system while the other six players met in a league format. Bessim Golger was definately the man of the evening and finished on top of the table with a few more goals scored than Pierre De leeuw whilme Geoffrey Marain was in a bad day and ended in 7th position. Eric Caillaux (France) won the league format after many close games. Eric had 11 points while Didier Moons and Sébastien Sorge had 10 points.

On the same day, the club of Verviers-Herve had a tournament with 8 players competing in groups and knock-out games. Christophe Dheur (Valletta) won the final against Stembert's Pascal Scheen (3-2 in sudden death) while Sébastien Scheen (Salernitana) and Ludovic Ponthieux (Valletta) were the losing semi-finalists. Eric Threis (Stembert) was 5th, Philippe Roufosse 6th, Geoffrey Dheur 7th and Benoit Vanwissen 8th.
In Huy, the mid-week tournament organized by the local club had a small turnout of three. Ralf Grégoire was unbeaten and won all his games while Richard Boulanger was runner-up and David Boulanger was third.

On May 20, the "Magic Team Tournai" club hosted a good event with 8 players competing in Swiss system. Organizer Michaël Dupret was on fire and won his four games to win the trophy while three players ended the evening with 7 points and only the goal difference could decide positions.

In the Flanders, the 77th WASPA tournament of the the Flanders club took place in Antwerp with 5 players. David Wouters claimed another trophy while Jos Ceulemans was runner-up.

Finally, on Wednesday, the Templeuve United club held a "promotional tournament", which means the top players from the area (Geoffrey Marain, Matthias Averlant and Vincent Coppenolle) were not allowed to take part. The event had 7 players from 4 different clubs taking part and some visitors coming in the premises of the club to discover the game. Before the last session, brothers André and Pasal Flémal were on top of the table but their game ended as a draw and André finished the evening with 8 points, Pascal 7 while Michaël Dupret won his third game to claim the victory with 9 points.
