Perfect evening for Simone Trivelli in Rome

On November 27, 12 players attended the third leg of the WASPA Lazio League in Rome (Italy). As usual, the swiss system was used to play in four sessions. Simone Trivelli, the winner of the second leg, won again with authority! He won his four games without conceding any goal! The second place goes to Patrizio Lazzaretti, the recent winner of the FISCT Italian Cup for "Cadetti", with 9 points. Four players end the evening with 7 points but Stefano Tagliaferri is officially 3rd, Gianmarco Del Brocco 4th, Claudio Paulina 5th and Paolo Barone 6th.
Matteo Del Brocco and Diego Tagliaferri have 6 points. Diego was coming back to the game after a rather long break.
Sergio Sassi is 9th, Alessandro Spoto 10th, Luigi Aniballi 11th. They all have 3 points. Alessandro Matrullo is 12th of the table.
In the general classification of the WASPA Lazio League, Trivelli is on top (68 points) but Gianmarco Del Brocco (67) and Patrizio Lazzaretti (65) are very close.

Nuno Noronha wins the Open of Sintra

The Open of Sintra was held last saturday in Portugal with 26 players taking part. Among the 19 players in the Open category, Nuno Noronha was the man to beat and the Tiburones player was strong enough to win the final. He beat Manuel Santos in the decisive game (1-0). Bruno Valente and Ricardo Pavão reached the semis. In the U15 tournament, João Nunes beat Diogo Pereira (3-1).
Finally, Carolina Villarigues won the consolation tournament after she beat Nuno Reis in the final.
Congratulations to the club of Sassoeiros and the Lisbon League for another great event.

Two tournaments in Pescara

Two subbuteo events have been held in Pescara earlier in November. The first tournament was played with the old rules by 7 players. Fabrizio Fedele won the final to clim his first title in the category. The other tournament attracted 14 players and was played with the FISTF rules. In the final of the main event, Simone Di Pierro beat Fabrizio Fedele (2-1). In the junior section, the young Fulvio Palmieri beat Davide Filograsso to win the trophy. Well done to the club of Arabona for this great promotion held in a shopping mall.

Paolo Pazzi wins the first tournament of STSC Levante

The "Subbuteo Table Soccer Club Levante" in Genova (Italy) organized their first tournament under WASPA banner last wednesday. The tournament was played with the old rules and the swiss system was used! 16 players were taking part and there were many good games. At the end of the evening, Paolo Pazzi was the great winner with 3 wins and 1 draw. Federico Solari was 2nd, Enrico Sergi 3rd, Mauro Cremona 4th.
To make things even funnier, the tournament was played with the theme of the "Russian LEague", which means every player was defending the colors of a Russian football club.

Stéphane Lambert was the better shooter in Templeuve

This thursday a promotional tournament was played in Templeuve under WASPA banner. 9 players were taking part. It was good to see Michaël Dupret back in action but Michaël had to leave to work after the second session. The swiss systemw was used to make a ranking before the semi-finals. The ranking was as follows:

In the semis, Renald beat Greg while Stephane had to wait the shootout to beat Alain. In the final, it was another 0-0 and Stephane beat Renald on shots to win the trophy, which was a bottle of sparkling wine. Well done Stephane and good luck for your trip in Yokohama, Japan for the forthcoming FISTF Open.

First title for Stephen McNab

The 13th tournament of the Hamilton Subbuteo Club had a new winner as Stephen McNab won for the first time. He beat Peter Sexton in the final (1-0) to claim the title while Brodyn Sexton and Liam Sexton reached the semis. 10 players were present and everyone had a good time. The next tournament in Hamilton will be held on November 30th and will count as a December event. Interested players can contact Peter Sexton at

Claudio Dogali wins in Colciago

A tournament with the old rules was played on wednesday and five players met up in Colciago (Italy) to have great games. Claudio Dogali (Master Sanremo) won the tournament. Victories were worth two points, as in the past. Large F balls were used to play. The ranking is as follows:

Luigi Marino wins again in Bari!

After five swiss rounds Luigi Marino won the third WASPA tournament organized by the club of Bari in Italy. This time Marino won with a tense last round, because after turn 4 there were four players able to win the tournament and every game played was very important for the final standings. In the position of runner-up, Degiosa and Triggiani had the same score but Degiosa took second place because he won direct match versus Triggiani. Swiss tournament, as ever, was very tense and open until the end! There is no picture this time because everyone was busy playing. Well done to the club of Bari for such a great tournament with 10 entries.

Peter Thomas wins in Penrith

Only three players attended the tournament held on sunday in the Mega Games shop in Penrith.

Numbers were low but the standards of play were high as the competitors proved to have a very good level. They played each other twice and results were as follows:

So, Peter was first, Greenie second and Eliot third. As ever, Subbuteo was the winner!

Our next tournament will be at 11am on Sunday 19 January 2014 at Mega Games (unless Adrian Elmer has one sooner than that at Toongabbie?), to coincide with the visit of Paul O'Donovan Rossa from the US. Hopefully we will have better numbers.

The very first WASPA tournament in Scotland

The very first WASPA tournament in Scotland took place this sunday in Arbroath, Scotland. 6 players were taking part and the tournament was played in swiss system. There were many close games but Steve Bennett managed to win the title after taking 7 points (wins over Dand and Baxter, draw against Christie. Gareth Christie was second, Greg Dand third, Fraser Bruce fourth. Well done to the Tayside Kickers '91 TFC for a great achievement and congratulations to Steve for the victory!

John Devaney wins the promotional tournament in Lincoln

The last 2 winners in Lincoln: Jeremy Boothman won earlier this month and John Devaney (right) won this week
Six players attended the promotional tournament organized on wednesday by the Lincoln Flickers in England. The tournament was played in swiss format with three sessions and every players had the chance to play three games. John Devaney came on top of the league with 9 points. Michael Brien was 2nd, Andy Berry 3rd, Shaun Connolly 4th, Gary Walker 5th and Peter Warner 6th. Well done to John for organizing the tournament and winning the trophy!

The Delaware Valley Open for Patrick Sheridan

The Delaware Valley Open took place on sunday in Avondale, PA (USA). 8 players were taking part and there were really exciting games. Patrick Sheridan won his first ever WASPA title after beating Neil Rivera on shots in the final. Paul Eyes was third and Massimo Conturso was fourth.

Table Football League Finland (TFL Finland)

Things are moving in the North and a new table football league in Finland is created. In it's first season it has eight players. Those players are Stefano Fontana (Italy), George Papadopoulos (Greece), David Cremoux (France), Robert Green (Australia), Vesa Kouvonkorpi, Kari Hakkarainen, Jarkko Lindholm and Marko Karhunen (all Finland). The first season will be played in four sessions during the year. League as starting on 19th October in Helsinki. Seven of the competitors were present.

After game one, the stand is as follows (game played - points):

Marko Karhunen (6-11)
Stefano Fontana (5-6)
Vesa Kouvonkorpi (6-6)
Robert Green (6-3)
Kara Hakkarainen (5-2)

The next day should be held in Helsinki again on December 7th and the third one in Lappeenranta on January 11th.

There are discussions to create division 2 (TFL2) if there are enough interested players. TFL2 can be played in one or two sessions depending on the amount of players. Possible winner of TFL2 is promoted to TFL1 for the following season. Interested players contact Marko Karhunen for further information.

This league is not an official Subu ry (Finnish Association) competition but it has generated interest from many international fans.

Jos Ceulemans did it again!

Jos Ceulemans (right on the picture) won on monday the 3rd WASPA tournament organized by Subbuteo Club Flanders in Hofstade-Zemst (Belgium). Geert Leys (left) takes silver and Frank Lannoy (middle) is third. The tournament played along Swiss ladder rules, over 4 games and 11 participants. Massimo Cremona wins in Attard

There was some competition again this week-end in Attard (Malta) with 12 players competing in a tournament organized in the premises of the host club. 8 players competed in the main catégory and the former world number 1 in the FISTF ranking Massimo Cremona won the final against George Ebejer (5-2) while Josef and Mauro Camilleri lost in the semi-finals. In the B category, Tristan Fenech came on top of the group stage with Neil Mark Bonnici taking the second place.
