Jean Carl Tabone wins Christmas tournament in Attard


Attard Subbuteo Club held a WASPA tournament on Sunday as a good way to celebrate christmas among flickers. 9 players were taking part and there was a very strong field with representatives of different clubs from Malta.

Jean Carl Tabone, who currently plays for the Italian squad of FCD Mortellito Barcellona PG, defeated Jason Pisani in the final while semi-finalists were Jamie Bonnici and Josef Camilleri. Spencer Conti and Mario Fleri Soler reached the barrage round.

"Thanks to Mario Fleri Soler for organizing all the fixtures", commented Joseph Debono after the event.

John Zammit wins Bormla Subbuteo Club tournament

On Sunday, September 1st, a WASPA tournament was organized at the St George Band club in Cospicua. 20 players took part with competitors coming from Maltese clubs of Cospicua, Valletta Lions, Attard and as well two maltese players registered with Palermo and Barcelona Mortelito in Italy.

After the groups phase, in the quarter-finals Tristan Fenech (Bormla SC) defeated clubmate George Ebejer (Bormla SC) After the extra-time (2-1). Josef Camilleri (Bormla SC) won against Stanley Farrugia Randon (Attard SC) by 4-0, Jamie Bonnici (Palermo CT) took the best on Claude Cuschieri (Attard SC) by a clear 5-0, John Zammit (Bormla SC) won against teammate Mauro Camilleri (Bormla SC) 2-1 after the extra-time period.

In the first semi-final the two Cospicuan players fought a close tied game with the winner Josef Camilleri edged Tristan Fenech 3-2 while Jamie Bonnici (Palermo CT) was eliminated by John Zammit (Bormla SC) (3-1).

In the final the new Bormla SC player John Zammit won against Josef Camilleri of Bormla SC 5-1. The semi-finalists were Tristan Fenech of Bormla SC and Jamie Bonnici of Palermo CT. The next competition organized by Bormla Subbuteo Club Malta will be a satellite tournament sanctionned by MTFSA and the FISTF in the last weekend of September 2019.

March 2019: news from around the world

Here are some late reports of events held in March. We didn't have the time to publish all the news so here is a summary.

The club of Attard in Malta held another tournament in March. 12 players were involved and experienced players took the best as Joseph M. Debono defeated Claude Cuschieri on shots in the final while Walter Attard and Natalino Tanti were the semi-finalists.

In Spain, the Marina Citerior club had two small events with 3 players involved. Pasquale Carrassi won two time with David Mc Aulay finishing as runner-up on both days.

Martinog bradley winner in Derry
In Derry, Northern Ireland, there was a small turnout of 4 players on March 19. We played a round robin league format with 1st playing 4th and 2nd playing 3rd for the semi-finals. Martinog Bradley took the honors. Oisin Mor put on an impressive display for someone so recently playing the game, reaching his first final after a sudden death shoot out with Donegal’s Brendan Rodgers. Great fun!

Leonidas Koutromanos won the latest Pireas Lions tournament in Greece after defeating Stamatis Syrmos on shots in the final. Lambros Tekos and Andreas Eleftheriou were the semi-finalists.

Fabrizio Coco won the latest Sydney TFC event, finishing as best of 6 players and defeating Tony Credentino in the final.

In Wales the club of Knighton TFC held a WASPA tournament on March 3. Five players were taking part and Danny Bird finished on top of a group of 5 with Tom Taylor ending as runner-up.

In Ireland, Derry’s Martinog Bradley won ‘Europe’s most westerly’ WASPA tournament. Many thanks to Donegal Subbuteo and Brendan Rodgers (who was also runner-up) for hosting and organising a great event and a great days craic.

Some words finally from Finland where four players met to play a very international tournament. George Papadopoulos from Greece finished on top of a group robin with Australi's Robert Green finishing second. Finnish players Kari Hakkarainen and Jarkko Lindholm were also taking plart. there are already plans to organize another tournament in Helsinki on April 28.

Claude Cuschieri wins Ivan Bartolo Cup

In Malta, Attard Subbuteo Club played the "Hon. Ivan Bartolo MP Cup" last week-end. Another good event with 12 players taking part and in the end, Claude Cuschieri defeated local organizer Joseph M. Debono to win the trophy. Natalino Tanti won the game for the third place against Stanley Farrugia.

Maltese Christmas Cup for Daniele Spadaro



 Last Saturday the club of Attard was holding the “WASPA Christmas Cup Tournament 2018” in their premises in Malta.

There was a good field of 12 players of all ages and in the end, there was no surprise as Daniele Spadaro defeated Natalino Tanti (2-0) in the final.

Walter Attard beat Joseph M. Debono in the game for the third place (2-1). A good day was had by all.

Last week the club of Bormla was holding their second WASPA tournament of the season with a good turnout of 14 players. FISTF veterans world champion Charlie Aquilina won the tournament after a close final against Jean Carl Tabone (2-1). Melvin Baron and Jamie Bonnici made it to the semis. Huge thanks to Josef Camilleri and the Bormla players for hosting the event.

Four in a row for Mauro Camilleri

Last week the club of Attard in Malta was holding a tournament during Independance day. The "Tazza Indipendenza 2018" tournament had 9 competitors from different clubs taking part. Mauro Camilleri (Bormla SC) won his fourth consecutive WASPA title after defeating Pireas' Tristan Fenech in the final. Joseph Agius defeated Walter Attard in the game for the third place. Thanks to joseph Debono for organizing the event with his Attard clubmates!

Three in a row for Mauro Camilleri


Bormla Subbuteo Club player Mauro Camilleri won the WASPA tournament organized by Bormla SC on September 2. 16 players started the tournament, Camilleri won the group and in the quarter-final he beat Thomas Ebejer 5-0, then in the semi-final he took the best on club mate George Ebejer (4-3). In the final, Camilleri defeated Salernitane player Jean Carl Tabone. The next tournament will be played on September 2018. This is Mauro's third WASPA victory in a row. Congratulations Mauro!

Walter Attard winner in Malta

Last week-end there was action in Attard, Malta where the club of Attard was organizing a tournament for their members. After the group stage and the quarter-finals, Walter Attard and Joseph Agius managed to qualify for the final. Attard took the honors after a close win against Agius (2-1). Claude Cuschieri won the game for the third place against Brian Aquilina (4-0). it was goodf to see thre players competing in their very first WASPA tournament. There are already plans to hold another WASPA tournament on Friday 21st September 2018 during Indipendence Day National Holiday.

Mauro Camilleri winner in Attard

Attard Subbuteo Club had another WASPA tournament last week-end with 8 players taking part. Mauro Camilleri defeated Josef Camilleri in the final to claim his second WASPA title. The two Bormla players had large victories in the semi-finals against Walter Attard and Joseph Agius. Conratulations to the Bormla players but also to Attard Subbuteo Club for continuing the work to help young players and to promote table football in Malta.

Mauro Camilleri winner in Attard


Last week Attard Subbuteo club held another WASPA tournament with 12 players taking part. There were several good players attending and Mauro Camilleri defeated Tristan Fenech in the final to claim the trophy. Joseph Agius and Walter Attard made it to the semi-finals. There will be another WASPA tournament in Attard on July 15.

George Ebejer wins in Attard


Attard Subbuteo Club was back in action last Sunday. The Maltese guys had their first tournament of the season with a great turnout of 12. George Ebejer managed to win the tournament. The Bormla player defeated Miguel Zahra in the final. Thomas Ebejer and Stanley Farrugia Randon were the semi-finalists. There will be another tournament in Attard on February 25. International news - Results of 6 events

Reports from several events held in Spain, Austria, Malta, Northern Ireland, Wales and Belgium in the last few days. Enjoy!

3rd Mont Goal tournament in Javea


In Spain, the 3rd "Mont Goal" tournament in Javea had a small turnout of 3 after several players dropped out due to the flu. Players met each other twice and in the end Pasquale Carrassi (Italy) defeated David Mc Aulay (Scotland) in the final (4-) to claim the title.

Roland Schwacha is a winner in Ebenfurth
In Austria, the second tournament in Ebenfurth saw the victory of Roland Schwacha who finished on top of a group of 4. Horst Deimel was runner-up while Hungary's András Hicz took the 3rd place. Robert Lengyel was fourth. To be noted Robert, Horst and András finished with the same number of points and the goal-difference was needed to decide the winner.

The FISTF Satellite of Bormla in Malta had a consolation tournament under WASPA banner. Melvin Barun took the honors after defeating Jamie Bonnici in the final. Thanks to Josef Camilleri for making things happen!

5th tournament of the season in Derry

In Derry, league night number 6 was run as the club's 5th WASPA tournament of the season. 6 players competed in the league format with Martinog Bradley coming out on top, closely followed by Brendan Rodgers. The next Derry tournament will be held on January 19.

Dan Nicholls wins in Knighton
A Promotional tournament was held in Knighton on Sunday. Dan Nicholls finished on top of a group of 4 while Tom Taylor was runner-up, Danny Bird took the 3rd place and Kenny Evans was 4th.

Finally, the 46th WASPA tournament of SC Flanders took place on Monday in Hofstade-Zemst, Belgium. Six players were attending in Swiss system and Jos Ceulemans won his four games to finish on top of the Swiss ladder. Great job!

Second trophy for Miguel Zahra

On March 19 eight players met for a WASPA tournament in Attard? mata. Miguel Zahra defeated Nigel Spiteri in the final (3-1) while Sven Zahra and Joseph Agius reached the semi-finals. Congratulations to Attard SC for the youth development project.

A third trophy for Stanley Farrugia

Last Sunday the club of Attard was hosting another WASPA tournament for their young players and this time there was a smaller turnout of 6. Stanley Farrugia defeated Joseph Agius in the final to claim the trophy. It's Stanley's third victory in the WASPA circuit. Nigel Spiteri defeated Miguel Zahra in the game for the third place.

Stanley Farrugia is a winner in Malta

Last Sunday the club of Attard in Malta was hosting another WASPA tournament with a majority of young players.

This time Stanley Farrugia took the honors, defeating Zven Zahra in the final. Joseph Agius and Miguel Zahra reached the final 4.

Congratulations to all the people involved to support youth development in Malta.

A first trophy for Miguel Zahra

This week-and the club of Attard was hosting another WASPA tournament and it was great to see youth in action as most players were very young. Miguel Zahra took the honors after beating Joseph Agius on shots in the final. Nigel Spiteri was third and Zven Zahra took the fourth place.

Special thanks to Mr Joseph Debono for his work with the kids and the efforts done to promote the game in Malta. We are convinced he should get much more support from everyone in Malta!

This week-end Attard Subbuteo Club in Malta was holding another tournament. 12 players were taking part and in the final Joseph Agius defeated Nigel Spiteri to take the honors. Nicolai Bugeja was third while Miguel Zahra took the fourth place.

A first victory for Stanley Farrugia



This Sunday 12 players attended the tournament organized by Attard Subbuteo Club in Malta. Stanley Farrugia defeated Joseph Agius in the final (1-0) to claim the title.

Miguel Zahra took the best on Zven Zahra to take the third place. It was the very first tournament win for the Stanley Farrugia in the WASPA circuit.

First victory for Joseph Agius in Attard

Attard Subbuteo Club was back in action last week-end with the grand finals of their latest tournament. 12 players were taking part and this time, the final was all between novice players as Joseph Agius defeated Nicolai Bugeja to claim the trophy (3-2). Zven Zahra wons the game for the third place against Rooney Agius.
