The WASPA event for the Open had 10 players competing for the trophies. After a Barrage, the last 8 saw some close games leading to a Semi-final matchup of Cardiff’s David Lauder edging Yorkshire’s Ben Staples 3-2. In the other Semi it was London’s Kevin Cordell beating Trevor Schott, also from Yorkshire , 2-0 to reach the final. In a tense ending to the match, where it ended 1-1, it was Cordell who finally emerged the winner on shots over Lauder.

Richard Stock |
The second WASPA event with the Veterans saw a field of 13 players start things off with a Barrage then a quarter final round. At the semi-final stage it was Wales v Scotland (and Cardiff v Tayside!) as Richard Stock narrowly beat Rob Conway 2-1 whilst Darren Barnes beat Andy Beskaby 3-0 as the Welsh players came out on top! The final finished with Stock victorious over Barnes, winning 3-1, giving Cardiff a nice WASPA trophy haul for the day.
