Subbuteo in Belgium: results from Templeuve, Huy, Antwerp and Verviers

Here is a brief summary of the recent tournaments held in Belgium over the last 6 weeks.

First of all the Templeuve United players had 2 events in February. The club's regional tournament took place on February 18, which was a very bad day as the big storm Eunice was causing damages all over the country. Despite the extremely bad weather, five players competed and Geoffrey Marain took the best to claim another title.

One week later, the weather was back to normal and six players competed in a promotional tournament where a special rule was sued: ony Subbuteo goalkeeper were used (so no metal keepers).


Stéphane Lambert, who travelled from Antwerp to play, was a deserved winner, finishing on top of the league format while Eric Caillaux was runner-up after doing really well in his games.

David Boulanger, Rinaldo van Dijk, Ralf Grégoire and Grégoire Boulanger

In March, the club of Huy held a small WASPA tournament during the FISTF Satellite held in the premises of the club. Rinald van Dijk from the Netherlands took the best on local organizer Ralf Gregoire to win the trophy. Richard Boulanger was 3rd and David Boulanger was 4th.

The March tournament in Templeuve took place last Friday and this time there was a big field of 14 entries. There was no surprise as Geoffrey Marain won the Swiss ladder while Matthias Averlant was a well-deserved runner-up. It was great for the local club to have visitors of several clubs such as Temploux and Brussels.

In the same night, the club of Verviers-Herve had a WASPA evening with players from different clubs. After losing in the first session to Ludovic Ponthieux, Pascal Scheen won his next four games to win the tournament. Well done!

Finally, on Monday, the Flanders club held their monthly tournament in Antwerp. The only club in the North of the country had six players competing in Swiss ladder. This time Jos Ceulemans managed to beat David Wouters som Dave's winning streak came to an end after several months.
