Simon Stewart and Fred Elesbao winners in Germany

Things are on the up in Germany with some great clubs organizing tournaments under WASPA banner. This week two clubs held tournaments in Hamburg and Hanover. Special thanks to Simon Stewart and Fred Elesbao for sending us reports, results and pictures! Much appreciated!

Players in Sankt Pauli

Sankt Pauli WASPA - 22-2-22

Seven players took part in the 2nd Subbuteo Sankt Pauli competition of the year in what was a hard fought competition with everyone recording at least one victory.

Irishman Simon took the title thanks to 3 wins and a draw with Sven and Marius finishing 2nd and 3rd with 3 wins each. Newcomer Dimitrios recorded a fantastic 1-0 win over Andre, but unfortunately it wasn’t enough to lift him off the bottom of the table as goal difference separated him from Ralf and Philip, all on 3 points.

Our weekly club meets continue on Tuesday and we will announce our next WASPA competition in due course.

Final Results:

1. Simon Stewart
2. Marius Willhaus
3. Sven Schilling
4. Andre Lange
5. Ralf Offenborn
6. Philip Hansen
7. Dimitrios Tolias

Players in Hanover

The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Cup in Hannover

On a beautiful Subbuteo day, Hannover received many visitors from Berlin, Hamburg and Häuslingen to play "The Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Cup".

Nine players were divided in 3 groups of 3, with quarterfinals, semifinals and a big final.

In an exciting final, Fred Elesbao from Hanover defeated the Australian International Hermann Kruse, who just recently signed to SC Berlin, 2-0.

Perhaps the philosopher Leibniz was right when he said that the best of all possible worlds is precisely the one that we are all living in right now.

The SG '94 Hannover (www.sg94hannover.de) wishes all the best to all players and please come back soon!
