Big fun in Japan
On December 3, just before the FISTF tournament held in the same venue, there was a WASPA tournament in Yokohama with 16 players from different ages (between 11 and 55). Taichi Kato (Yokohama OSC) defeated Singapore's Issac Lim from Singapore Lions in the final. Katsuhiko Fukuoka (OSC Yamato) and Makoto Miyake (Yokohama OSC) were the semi-finalists. Big thanks to Kenzo Koi for the support!

Chessray Jooste ends 2016 on a high!
(report by Julian vd Merwe)
Saturday 10 December 2016, Pretoria, South Africa:
The final event on the 2016 Pretoria Flickers Club calendar attracted a field of 10 entries - including Imtiaz Ahmed on holiday from the Northwest province of South Africa. Imtiaz had last competed in March 2015 during the SATFA / Alberton Challenge. The players were placed in two groups of 5 - with each player getting to play 4 matches over 5 rounds of play. Over the 20 scheduled matches we witnessed a total of 20 goals scored, ensuring for great fun and action to end a busy year for the Pretoria Flickers Club. For this event all players used Total Soccer figures & bases - playing in various International colours.
The pick of Round 1 action saw a 2-0 win for Jayden vd Merwe (Netherlands) over Stanton Nortjie (Argentina). Elsewhere, Kegan vd Merwe (Portugal) registered a 1-0 win over Imtiaz Ahmed (France).
In Round 2, Stanton frustrated Bevin Reed (England) to a 0-0 draw, whilst Rowin Wilson (Brazil) shocked everybody when he took a 1-0 lead over Jayden - but the lead lasted only 2 minutes as Jayden stormed back to force a 1-1 draw !
The much anticipated fixture in Round 3 saw Bevin record a 2-0 victory over Jayden. When Conway Julie (Spain) beat Imtiaz by 1-0, the standings at the end of Round 3 made for some interesting reading as Conway found himself top of the standings - but the tournament favourites still had a game in hand.
Then Round 4 produced some upsets - firstly, Julian vd Merwe (Japan) wheathered an opening 5 minute assault from Bevin, but Julian somehow managed to compose himself and win the match by 2-0! Sherwin Reed (Germany) then profited on a defensive error to beat Kegan by 1-0. Chessray Jooste (Italy) was silently getting the results he required, and after beating Imtiaz by 1-0, Chessray was top of the standings going into Round 5.
In Round 5, Julian took the lead over Jayden - but Jayden got one back to end the match 1-1, the draw ensuring a 3rd place overall for Julian. Chessray then beat Kegan by 1-0, the result confirming Chessray as 2016 PFC Copa del Clausura winner ! Elsewhere Bevin recorded the day's highest winning margin by 3-0 over Rowin, a result securing 2nd place overall for Bevin.
I suppose it was no surprise that Chessray Jooste captured his 8th WASPA title on the day - as he (Chessray) was Pretoria's stand out player during last month's SA Championship held in Cape Town, when Chessray managed a 4th place overall finish at the SA Championship!
A great day of fun as the curtain came down on the club's busiest year to date - a total of 12 WASPA sanctioned events was held in Pretoria during 2016 ! Thanks to all for your support during the year - hope you have a Flicking Festive period, ready to take on 2017!
Final Standings - Points
Chessray Jooste (ITALY) 7
Bevin Reed (ENGLAND) 5

A first victory for Arnaud Robillard
It was a last minute event but JSC Rochefort was glad to have six players taking part to their very first WASPA event with a good night of games played in Swiss system. Arnaud Robillard took the honors, ending on top of table with Olivier Saffer, Rémy Honet, Basile Magermans, Mathéo Grégoire and Aurélien Feye being the other competitors. Despite some late dropouts, it was a good evening and organizers said they will have som emore events in the future, probably a good chance for neighboring clubs to show up next time.

A first trophy for Miguel Zahra
This week-and the club of Attard was hosting another WASPA tournament and it was great to see youth in action as most players were very young. Miguel Zahra took the honors after beating Joseph Agius on shots in the final. Nigel Spiteri was third and Zven Zahra took the fourth place.
Special thanks to Mr Joseph Debono for his work with the kids and the efforts done to promote the game in Malta. We are convinced he should get much more support from everyone in Malta!

Monthly report of the WASPA circuit - November 2016
Dear all, like every month, here are the monthly standings of the WASPA circuit.
The Excel file (fulle rankings, main statistics)
The PDF file (results, statistics, ranking)
It has been a very busy month as I have added records of 35 tournaments (33 "regional", 1 "old rules", 1 "national cup")
Four clubs have organized their very first WASPA event:
- London Road SC (WAL)
- SC Temploux (BEL)
- VGE Subbuteo Szombathely (HUN)
- Derry City TFC (NIR)
We have already had tournaments in 19 different countries since the beginning of the season and we have more events in the agenda scheduled in New Zealand, Germany, the Netherlands and Spain.
Please note in the "Golden book" some results might not appear in the right order, sorry for that. We have added a tournament played in October in the US in November we have had great improvements and some superb events.
For the first time South Africa had a National Cup under WASPA banner and it is fantastic to see that players from Pretoria and Johannesburg travelled to Cape Town for the event. There was an impressive field of 26 entries, which is awesome.
There were small and big events but it was always something special for the players taking part. It as also great to see some nations having a revival like Northern Ireland, Indonesia, the Czech Republic, Canada and Hungary.
Belgium, England and Australia have regular tournaments in several different clubs and that's also very positive.
10 clubs have joined the "top clubs" project and we have three pending applications.
Well, that's all for now. I hope you will love the statistics, results and rankings.
Please remember you only need 3 players to register your tournament. Don't be scared to join. It's free and tournament requests can be sent directly to my Facebook account or on my private e-mail.
Keep an eye on the WASPA blog at http://waspa-circuit.blogspot.com as there are updates almost every day.
The FISTF website can be found here: http://www.fistf.com
Ideas to develop the WASPA circuit or to make things more attractive are always welcome. We stay at your disposal for more info.
Yours sincerely,
Vincent Coppenolle
