August Subbuteo session in Singapore

August 29, 2021 - Sports Hub Library

After more then a month of no action due to strict Singapore Covid 19 measures, SPH open their doors again allowing us to flick at venue. 5 flickers were allowed but due to unforeseen circumstances the main organiser had to pull out, leaving Bernard Lim, Vikas, Rizal Taib & Rudy.

Due to long layout, the enthusiastic players decided to test their endurance & play a marathon 2 rounds round robin, hence each players get 6 games.

6 backbreaking games later, Rudy came out tops with full points, followed by Vikas, Bernard & Rizal.

Final Table
1st - Rudy - 18 pts
2nd - Vikas - 10 pts
3rd - Bernard - 7 pts
4th - Rizal - 0 pts

Final: Milan Knezevic - Salvatore Visconti 2:3

Swiss-Subbuteo started the new season on August 22, 2021 with the first Swiss Cup. 10 participants from Belgium, France, Italy, Serbia and Switzerland were taking part.

A great Subbuteo tournament was played in the new venue at Restaurant Hard, Birsfelden/Basel. Fair play, fun and friendship were in the foreground.

Already in the groups, there was intense fighting. Salvatore Visconti (Belgium) was the deserved winner, but also Milan Knezevic (Serbia) entered the final with a lot of tactics, but had to accept the decisive goal 10 seconds before the end. In the small final, Eric Lienhardt (France) won against Hervé Fino (France).

A great night of play in Derry, Northern Ireland

There were many tournaments in England in July and we can thank the different local organizers for promoting the game at regional level. We were also glad to see tournaments in Wrexham (Wales) and Derry (Northern Ireland).

Great tournament in Baden Baden, Germany

In other countries, the situation is also going better with two events held in Belgium, one in the Netherlands, one in the USA, two in Singapore, two in Greece, three in Australia but the "big hit" of the month was the tournament held in Baden Baden, Germany with six players from 5 different nations playing home and away games. Huge thanks to Milan Knezevic for hosting the event! Also special thanks to the H'Attard club in Malta for organizing another good event.

Players in Templeuve, Belgium

As for the rankings, congratulations to Alan Lee for being the new number 1 in the individual table. Alan is also the leader of the season ranking while Evangelos Kotrotsos is the best junior. England is on top of the rankings of nations while the best clubs are Subbuteo Perth (Top Clubs section), Johannesburg TFC (Development League) and London Road Subbuteo Club (Junior clubs).

Good turnout in Attard, Malta

In August, we will collect ideas to improve the circuit next season. The new season will start on September 1 and we hope that many clubs and players will be excited to take part!
