Ferran Borbones winner in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia

This Saturday, May 1st, a tournament was played in Sant Sadurní d'Anoia, a village known to be the center of "cava" production, cava being the name of "méthode champenoise" sparkling wine made in Catalonia. The tournament was supposed to take place earlier but covid restrictions made it impossible so the local group of the Barcelona area was glad to play this tournament in May. Seven players were competing in league format and in the end, Ferran Borbones was the winner with 4 wins and 2 draws. Pablo Baeza was runner-up while Andres Merino was third.

We are very happy at WASPA to see such a good tournament taking place nowadays in Spain, in particular since five of the seven players made their entry in the WASPA circuit.

Special thanks to Guillem Alsina for making things happen and for sending us some great pictures.
