Alexander Haas wins come-back tournament in Vienna

Top 3 of the day: Heinz Eder (2), Alexander Haas (1) and Christian Haas (3)

Table football was back in Austria last week-end with the TSC Royal 78 club organizing a WASPA tournament in their premises in Vienna. 8 players competed in a fair a positive spirit with Alexander haas defeating Heinz Eder int he final to claim the title. Christian Haas defeated Günther Bamberzky in the game for the third place. Bamberzky has been number 1 in the FISTF ranking of veterans but made his WASPA debut on Saturday.

Giuseppe Tardiota does it again in Brisbane

Brisbane Subbuteo club is back in action. After a long break of two months, the club held their monthly WASPA event this week-end and was glad to see three new players: Kevin Holliday, Wayne Miller and Ben Harback. Gus Gillespie finished on top of the table while Giuseppe Tardiota was runner-up. In the final Giuseppe managed to defeat Gus (2-1) to claim the title while Kevin Halliday beat Gareth Whalley in the game for the third place. It was a great time for all and all players were glad to play table football again.

The Roligans club is back in action

Last Sunday the Roligans players organized a tournament in their club room. It was obviously the first event after the coronavirus break. 17 players including some new players were taking part. After the Swiss system (4 sessions), a test-match was needed to decide the winner and Evangelos Kotrotsos defeated his father Chris to claim the trophy.

2. WASPA is back in Firenze

The lockdown is slowly coming to an end. A very small tournament with three players took place last Wednesday in Firenze.

Luca pini ended on top of the league format while Marco Bonciani was runner-up and Stefano Barducci took the third place.

We hope things come back to normal soon and more projects will develop in Italy!

Subbuteo table football is back in Perth

There are good signs of hope for all table football fans around the world. The first WASPA tournament after the lockdown took place on Saturday in Perth, Australia. The local group was proud to become the first Subbuteo Club in the World to start up again. They obliged and met all the Covid19 guidelines in order to restart according to Western Australia laws currently in place from the State government (rules differ in other states).

"We have one active case now in Western Australia, which is nearly the size of Europe with just 2.8 million population. We also took all precautions on the Saturday when we hosted a WASPA league format. We are nearly at stage 3 restrictions here which effectively means we are clear until we open up our boarders which have now been closed since early March here", commented Ross McNulty after the tournament.

As a reminder, WASPA tournaments will only be allowed in countries where clubs have the approval of the local government. Until them, stay safe and take care of yourself and your family!

WASPA rankings of April 2020

Dear Subbuteo friends, you will find in the attached link the monthly standings of the WASPA circuit.

No need to say there are not many changes as we had absolutely no activity in April. Our priority right now is to be sure all our players and their families are doing well.

There will be better days for all of us and we are sure that there will soon be a time to play some WASPA tournaments again.

As the organizer of the WASPA circuit, I want to send my support to all local organizers who have to keep the faith in these difficult days. Please continue to promote your club and your activities. It's important to communicate and to keep the interest for the game alive.

We have seen on several different Facebook groups that many people wanted to get info about the game (in particular in the UK) and we are sure that once things go back to normal, there will be some people wanting to attend our tournaments.

We got news from Australia, Malta and Spain where some local projects are under way for next season. We are also glad to see that many events are already in the agenda for next season in the UK.

Back to the rankings, we lost the players who attended their last event in April 2018, which means we lost about 40 players this month. There are very small changes in the overall ranking and the junior ranking.

We really hope to get feedback from as many of you to know what you expect from WASPA for the future as we can start preparing next season already!

If some juniors (born in 2003 or later) don't appear in the ranking, it means we don't have their birthdates so please send your feedback.

WASPA standings of March 2020

Dear all, you will find in the attached files the standings of the WASPA circuit in the end of March.

WASPA Season results 2019-2020

There is no need to say we are living in a very difficult period. Due to the coronavirus, we will not put any pressure on local organizers to host more tournaments in the next few weeks. The important thing nowadays is to stay at home and to take care of yourself and your family.

Despite all this, we added 10 tournaments in the records in March. We didn't post much on the blog because it was a weird situation with many players not being sure is travelling to play a tournament was a right decision.

Fantastic turnout for the Sankt Pauli tournament

Special thanks to the Sank Pauli club in Germany for holding a great event with some foreign players. Once again our German friends did a great job.

The Wolverhampton club in England also had a good day of table football with ten players meeting in Swiss system and everyone had six games. We are very proud to see Chris Short winning his first WASPA tournament.

Players in Dublin

The Irish Championship had a good stage in Dublin with some old and new faces taking part and Mark Farrell winning another tournament.

Conan Mullen wins St Paddy's tournament

The Northern California St Paddy’s Tournament took place on March 14 in Santa Rosa, CA.

It was the club's last tournament before isolation.
Conan Mullen is the winner based on scoring 1 more goal than Varant Kurkeyerian. Rumors say an Irishman should win St Paddy's!

Five players were taking part and everyone had a great time!

Good luck to our friends in California as they can only go out to work and get food until April 6th.

5th WASPA victory for Davide Visani

In the beginning of the month, the club of Firenze organized the fourth tournament of the domestic circuit with games being played under WASPA banner.. As always, the Swiss system was used to decide the winners and Davide Visani took the honors after winning three of his four games (he also tied against Tiberio Becucci) to claim his 5th WASPA title. Stefano Barducci was runner-up. A total of 13 players took place with Gabriele Allegria (Seagulls Viareggio) as only "foreigner" besides 12 members of the local club.

Huge thanks to the club of Firenze for the good work. All our support is given to the Italian Subbuteo Community who is living a sad period nowadays. We'll be back stronger soon!

Rasmus Lund wins in Sankt Pauli

The third edition of the "Subbuteo Sankt Pauli Cup" was a success. The tournament was played on March 8 with guests travelling sometimes from far away to play.

The tournament consisted in a Swiss system with 6 games for all 18 players so a total of 54 games were played over the day.

Rasmu Lund from Denmark was the great winner of the day as he was able to win his six games. The fight for the second place was very close with four players sharing the honors with 12 points but Anders Buhl Hansen had a better goal-difference (+5) than Marcus Tilgner (+4), Edin Mulasmajc (+3) and Thomas Petersen (+2). There were also representatives from Greece, Northern Ireland and Spain taking part so it was a very international event!

Everybody had a great time so the appointment is made for next year already!
