Some old and new faces met in Hofstade |
The latest tournament of the SC Flanders club was played on Monday with a great turnout of 14 players. Among the competitors, there were several new faces from the Brussels/Halle area but also visitors from the Tournai area and the tournament was played in Swiss System. Geoffrey Marain was the only player to win his four games, which gave him a deserved tournament win (his 104th WASPA title) but there was a strong fight for reaching the podium. Jos Ceulemans, who lost only to Marain, was runner-up with 9 points while Vincent Coppenolle defeated Geert Leys in the decisive game to take the third place. England's Brendon Lavender was the special guest of the week-end as he travelled to Belgium to play in the belgian league for clubs and stood one more day to play the WASPA tournament, which gave him a total of 13 competitive games. Huge thanks to the Flanders boys for another good evening of table football under WASPA banner!
