Jurong Central August tournament

August 2016 was a special month for all Singaporeans. A month where we celebrated our 51st independence day, Singapore winning their 1st Olympic Gold  medal thru the swimming event courtesy of Joseph Schooling, the launch of Pokemon Go 😜 & it was time again for Jurong Central SC WASPA league games.

14 flickers came with 10 players playing in our monthly WASPA league, while the other junior players had casual games.

Players were drawn into 2 groups of 5 players with the top 2 of each group qualifying for cup semis while the others were to qualify into the plates semis & bowl final. With no seeding, all players had an equal chance to win the tournament.

Group A final standings were predictable yet the games were thigh with Rudy & Anas progressing to the Cup semis with Nic & Hashim qualifying the plates semis with Fino qualified for the bowl event.

Group B games had a few surprising results, notably Amin beating Noor Haikal, Yew Loy drawing with Amin & Fauzi winning all his group games against experience players. Hence, Fauzi & Haikal qualified to the cup semis with Rizal & Amin going through the plates round with Yew Loy progressing to the bowl event.

Qualifying Stages

Bowl Event
Experience Old Skool player Yew Loy who just returned back to the game & playing his 1st WASPA overpowered his opponent Fino 3-0 to win the Bowl event.

Plates 
Rizal edged Nic 1-0 to win the Plates event after both eased pass their opponents Amin & Hashim with comfortable score lines.

Cup [Main] 
The Cup semis saw Rudy beating Noor Haikal while Anas needed extra time to qualify to the final edging Fauzi 1-0 in extra time.

Cup 3rd & 4th 
Noor Haikal avenge his group game defeat by crushing his club nemesis Fauzi 3-1 with the latter looking out of steam after impressing in the group stage.

1st & 2nd
Anas & Rudy again met after playing in the group stage where the latter won 0-1. The game continued where they left with  both attacking each but as the game went on, Rudy managed to draw 1st blood with a counter attack goal & soon after he secured a 2nd before the halfway mark. 7 minutes before the end Anas pulled a goal back and tried relentlessly to equalise with a last minute scare with Anas shot going beyond his opponent far post but alas it was not mean to be. In the end Rudy prevail and was crowned Jurong CSC August WASPA winner.
