Mike Parnaby wins the Thornaby tournament

Mike Parnaby kicking off
Eight players turned up for this one, but we were without one of our regulars, Ben Staples, who preferred a night with Kate Bush to a night with a bunch of lads playing table football. Madness!!!! Anyway, the evening was played to the new FISTF rules and we found little to worry us in those. Mike Parnaby took the crown tonight after a tense finale against Neil Youngson. It ended 0-0 which sort of suited both players!

WASPA results file of August 2014

Dear all,

here is the monthly report of the WASPA circuit. This month 19 tournaments have been held in 10 different countries. For the first time we have had 3 players from Indonesia taking part in a tournament in Malaysia. 5 tournaments have been played by the minimum number of players (3) but at least we were happy to reach some new places in Greece, Austria and England.
Action from Singapore in August 2014
The season is now over. 219 regional tournaments have been organized during the season 2013-2014 but also 13 promotional tournaments, 4 tournaments with advanced rules and 19 tournaments with the old rules. More than 1000 players have competed in the WASPA tournaments in the last 12 months.

A small report with some statistics of the season 2013-2014 will be published you.
FISTF President Alan Collins took part in the Sliders Tour event in Yokshire
For the new season, the goals are simply:
- to have more tournaments taking place;
- to have more regional circuits under WASPA banner (like the one in Cyprus or the one of Lazio SS);
- to have more players, clubs and nations involved.

The other aim is to elect a WASPA Board. Interested persons to join the future WASPA Board can drop me a line!
A nice venue for the latest tournament in Kent
Please keep in mind you only need 3 players to run a WASPA tournament. Don't hesitate to send your tournament requests to vincent.cop@rsca.com

Please also note the news are updated on a very regular base on the blog at http://waspa-circuit.blogspot.com
Big names took part in the Vienna tournament in Austria

England: the honors for Steve Bennett and Gianpaolo Vitulano

Two events have been held this week-end in England.

John attacks Ben
On sunday, three players met to test the new FISTF rules. Steve Bennett won the small Stockton tournament after beating Ben Staples and John Bottomley twi. Ben took the second place after beating John twice. Hopefully there will be more events in Stockton in the future.
Ben and Steve

On saturday, a tournament had been held in kent with 18 different players from Kent Invicta and Basingstoke. Terry Arnold reported "Kent Invicta TFC hosted another WASPA tournament on Saturday 30th August with some visiting players from Basingstoke and a few new Kent juniors playing for the first time – so 18 players in total at the 44Two Club in Gillingham. We played a 4 round Swiss system and also a team game at the end. With 6 adults, 4 Under 15’s and 8 Under 12’s, there were more youth players involved than adults – Kent Invicta again investing time in developing the game and getting youth players involved.
Nice group picture

It was good practice for some of Kent’s England junior players as they prepare for the World Cup next weekend in Belgium – so good luck to Kye, Daniel, James & Ashton plus our other Kent Internationals, Kane, Derrin, Christopher & Thomas!

The tournament went right down to session 4 to decide the final places where the only two players with a 100% record met as hot favourite Gianpaolo Vitulano edged out Kye Arnold to win the event from the England U12’s Captain. This is Vitolano's first WASPA title.
A nice venue

To finish off, there was a couple team games with Kent taking on the players from Basingstoke winning 4-0 plus a Kent ‘B’ v Kent ‘C’ game which saw the ‘B’ team winning 3-0."

Final Table (all Kent Invicta unless stated):
1. Gianpaolo Vitulano
2. Kye Arnold
3. Terry Arnold
4. Finn Taylor
