WASPA report of December 2017

Dear friends, first of all, happy New Year. May all your dreams come true in 2018! I really hope Subbuteo will remain an important hobby in your life!

You will find enclosed the WASPA standings at the end of December.

Welcome to the German club of Kaiserau
December was a very busy month and it was exciting for everyone to see how many clubs wanted to run Christmas tournaments. In total, we had 33 regional tournaments, 4 promotions events, 2 events with the old rules and 1 with advanced rules. Two "test matches" have also been added in the records.

The clubs of Kaiserau (Germany) and Ebenfurth (Austria) have held their very first WASPA tournaments. Welcome to them!

Terrific turnout of 30 players in Kallithea, Greece
The rankings are growing. 40 players have attended their very first WASPA tournament and we now have 1602 players from 47 nations involved. We have "lost" Afghanistan in the ranking of nations. Their two representatives were living in Austria and had been involved in the Subbuteo circuit thanks to the help of Austrian players and hopefully they will be back in the future.

The ranking of "top clubs" is also very exciting to follow with Jurong Central SC, Flaming Flickers SC, Western Flickers TFC and
London Road Subbuteo Club struggling for the first place. We have a total of 22 "top clubs" in our records and hopefully we can get a few more in 2018.

Christmas time in Rochefort, Belgium
Belgium was the most active nation in December with 8 regional and 3 promotional tournaments and more than 100 individual entries, which means 25% of the total entries in December.

It was nice also to see action in Northern California and Connecticut in the US and amazing turnouts in all tournaments in Greece.

First tournament in Ebenfurth, Austria
