The players

Iryna and David

David and Pasquale
On Saturday the club of Marina Citerior Subbuteo Club organized in Javea, Alicante, Spain, the second MontGoal Tournament. The club is holding tournaments every month. "It was another funny Subbuteo Saturday morning, good matches and good vibrations", reported Pasquale Carrassi who won the final against the pride of Scotland, David Mc Aulay. David used to play with the national Scottish team few decades ago, and now the passion is back and he has got again the Subbuteo fever. Alfie Hannah and Lisa Carrassi are improving day by day and ended respectively in third and fourth places. Iryna Symonenko from Ukraine also joined us and there were five flickers taking part to the event, two Italians, two Scottish and Iryna to bring a touch of beauty… The after school Subbuteo clubs will eventually start next week, so hopes to increase the number of flickers for next events are pretty high.

Fernando Gomez first winner in Javea

Elena in action
On Saturday the club of "Marina Citerior" organized in Javea, Alicante, Spain, their first "MontGoal Tournament" of a series of events to be held every month. As a start is was a good day, even if there was a small field of six players. A couple of usual players were on a trip but generally speaking it was a funny Subbuteo event. The participants were from different countries and all ages were present. for the very first time, 2 representatives from Bulgaria were taking part!

The winner was Fernando Gomez, an experienced player, very active since decades and with few world cups participations on his shoulders. The final was against Pasquale Carrassi, who came back playing after thirty years of lethargy, and it was a equal match, so Pasquale was quite satisfied.

Big start for the Liga in Madrid

This week-end will be an important date for Subbuteo in Madrid as there will be the start of the "Liga Madrilena de Subbuteo", a league consisting of 20 players, mostly newcomers. The league is a way to promote the game, to get players interested and to help newcomers to improve their level. The game will of course be played with FISTF rules but without referees and with only Subbuteo material. The brand Subbuteo will test some new products during the league, in particular new sets of bases. There will be regular updates of the League on the WASPA blog and some points will be awarded in the WASPA ranking once the league is over. Good luck to all the players involved!
