The fourth trophy for Koulosousas



The Greek club of "OSC Kallitheas Flame" organized the 8TH GREEK OLD SUBBUTEO TOURNAMENT on Sunday, June 11, 2017. 12 players from various clubs had a subbuteo Sunday morning, playing with the old rules and having fun. The winner was Serafeim Koulosousas won won the session of shots defeating Alekos Apatzis in the final. That was already the 4th title for Makis in 8 tournaments. Congratulations to the winner and all the players who participated.

Alekos Apatzis wins old rules event



Last Sunday OSC Kallithea Flame held the first ever Greek Subbuteo event under the italian old subbuteo rules with 12 players. The theme was "Espana 82" Mundial original subbuteo material was used. The guest of honor Antonio Chieppa who traveled from Italy to explained the differences in the rules, which were almost the samed as the Greek old rules of 1989. Differences were carefully noted. There were some close games in the group stage but in the knock-out rounds the games became tighter with a lot of extra times and penalties till the end. Even the final ended in the penalties shoot out with Hungary (Alekos Apatzis) beating Argentina (Vassilis Dragossis) in order to take the world cup trophy.

It was a great time for all in the subbuteo spirit and we thank everyone for their participation. Thanks to the winner Alekos Apatzis for a great performance and Special thanks to Mr Antonio Chieppa for his valuable vacation time that was dedicated to our club.

Number 3 for Eugene Plytas



A good field of 12 players with a lot of new entries competed in the 7th Greek Old Subbuteo WASPA tournament organized by Flaming Flickers on Sunday, May 7. It was a lovely subbuteo morning with a surprising final. Vaggelis Scotiniotis, in his first WASPA appearance, managed to defeat Serafim Koulosousas in the semi-final. Eugenios Plytas won the final to claim his 3rd title in 7 tournaments. Plytas and Koulosousas are on top of the local old rules circuit with 3 wins for each of them. The next tournament will take place on June 11.

Last Sunday 12 players from different clubs attended the 6th Greek Old Subbuteo WASPA tournament in Kallithea. The "usual suspects" Koulosousas and Plytas made it to the final where Koulosousas won his 3rd trophy. Eugene Plytas had formerly won 2 of the first 6 tournaments. Congratulations to Alekos Apatzis and Leonidas Koutromanos who managed to reach the semi-finals.

Another old Subbuteo trophy for Eugene Plytas



12 players and juniors from various Greek clubs had a great Sunday morning playing with vintage equipment and old rules. Winner was Eugene Plytas who now has a second old trophy out of 5 tournaments. Serafim Koulosousas also won two trophies so organizers await who will take the lead on the 6th one on the 30th of April. Congratulations to all the players for the good games and the friendly spirit!

Koulosousas defeats Panagiotides in Kallithea




12 players from different clubs participated in the 4th Greek Old Subbuteo tournament organized by OSC Kallithea's Flame under the WASPA banner. There were a lot of good games with the old rooms and a lot of fun. Makis Koulosousas won his second trophy and the surprise player was Giorgos Vlassopoulos, the U12 new table soccer star, that adapted fast to the old rules and made it to the semi finals.

A first trophy for Chris Panagiotides




Last Sunday the Flaming Flickers held another tournament using original subbuteo lightweight teams and old rules. 12 players were taking part and from the semi-finals, all the games were close, as shots were needed to decide the winner. Chris Panagiotides managed to claim his first WASPA title after defeating Panos Patistas. Alekos Apatzis won the final for the third place against Nikos Papadogonnas. Congratulations to our Greek friends for the nice promotion of the game with the old rules.

Big success for the old rules in Kallithea

The 2nd Greek Old Subbuteo Tournament (WASPA old rules) was held on Saturday, February 4 and hosted byOSC Kallitheas Flame.

16 players from several different clubs were taking part and in the end, Eugene Plytas (CCT Roma) defeated Serafim Koulosousas (Proteas Athens SC) in the final. Alekos Apatzis and Panos Patistas reached the semi-finals. "We saw some of the old skills like dribbling that we dont see that much nowdays and we are looking forward for our next meeting", commented Panos Panagiotides, our delegate from WASPA Greece.

Congratulations to our Greek friends for their continued efforts to promote all forms of Subbuteo sets of rules!

Kapsabelis and Salamouris claim honors in Pireas

Last Sunday the Pireaus Lions held a fantastic day of Subbuteo table football in their premises. The main event was played with the FISTF rules and attracted 16 players. Markos Kapsabelis (Foggia CT) claimed his first WASPA title by defeating Dimitris Dimopoulos (Pireas Lions) in the final. Spyros Stratoudakis (Flaming Flickers) and Dimosthenis Kalatzis (Pireas Lions) also reached the final 4. The funior tournament had 3 young players taking part and Vasilis Tritsarolis was the winner of the day. There was also a tournament played with the old rules and this time 8 players were taking part. Yannis Salamouris (Atlas) defeated Nikos Papadogonnas (Pireas Lions) in the final. Congratulations to the Lions for a great success. Thanks to Leonidas Koutromanos and WASPA Greece for making this happen. The next WASPA tournament of the Lions will take place on February 26.

Old rules tournament in Greece!



The very first WASPA tournament organized in Greece with the old rules took place on Sunday in Kallithea and was hosted by the new club "OSC Kallithea's Flame". Serafim Koulosousas (Proteas Athens) finished on top of a group of 8 players. Miltiadis Giochalas was runner-up. Congratulations to our Greek friends for another great event!

One tournament - three winners




This Wednesday there was a very special tournament in Maida, Catanzaro, Italy. There were three categories under the theme of "old subbuteo". The categories were as follows: HW, LW and Replay (only Top Spin material). The three tournaments were played under the theme of European Football. In the end, winners were Alessandro Corigliano (Chelsea) in HW category, Nicola Carelli (Inter) in LW category and Antonio Marullo (Panathinaikos) in Replay category. Thanks to Antonio Marullo for organizing things and sending the results.

Andrea Pagano does it again





This week-end the club of Catanzaro was back in action with a small tournament of four players held in their premises. Andrea Pagano was the final winner and claimed the honors with two wins and a draw.

The final standings were as follows:

Marco Ghigliotti is the master of old rules



In, the first week-end of September, Harrow Subbuteo Club was hosting a tournament played with old rules and classic subbuteo teams, which in reality where handpainted TopSpin sets made by Paul Lloyd. The event attracted 14 players and there were two special guests from Italy, Roberto Piccoli and Lorenzo Rocca.

The tournament itself was named "1st Garry Wright Subbuteo Cup" and players were divided in three groups where easily group B was named as group of death. In the end, Marco Ghigliotti (Bradford Park Avenue) was the big winner after defeating Panos Stemitsiotis (Barrow) in the final. Jeremy Boothman (Grimsby Town) and John Ellis (Halifax Town) were the semi-finalists. Lorenzo Rocca (Bath City) won the consolation tournament. In the end, everyone was happy and there are already plans to hold another tournament with the old rules Early in 2017.

Victor Jones is the old rules champion

Victor Jones won thanks to a better goal difference on Panos Stemitsiotis the Classic Subbuteo WASPA night in Harrow, the two of them battled head to head to the final round where they drew 2-2 in a spectacular match, as said the draw was enough to Victor to win the night on a surprising Panos, surprising as he was the first time after a long time back to play the Old fashion game. Only a small bunch of five players took part to the night where Rudi Peters came 3rd and Kevin Walker 4th on GD on John Ellis. Once again a pleasant and friendly night in preparation for the Harrow double gig the 3rd and 4th of September. Final standings:

Alberto Gagliardi wins in Macerata

In Italy, the last tournament of the season before the holidays took place in the headquarters of Subbuteo Club Macerata on Friday July 22 with seven players taking part. The "Summer Cup" tournament ended with the victory in the final of Alberto Gagliardi against Jury Di Tullio (3-0).

The George Best Trophy for Antonio Chieppa



On July 3rd, 14 players met in Tolentino for the "Trofeo George Best". It was another great event run by local legend Alberto Gagliardi and his clubmates of Macerata. Competitors also came from neighboring clubs such as Siena and Giulianova. In the end, Giulianova's Antonio Chieppa was the winner. Chieppa defeated Alberto Gagliardi on shots in the semi-final and Rocco Iarlori on shots as well in the final. Adriano Iobbi (Giulianova) was the other semi-finalist. The next tournament with the old rules will be the "Summer Cup 2016" in Macerata on July 22.

The Heineken Cup for Ugo Custo

The Italian club of Catanzaro was organizing a tournament with the old rules this week and 9 players were taking part. Ugo Custo (Ajax) defeated Domenico Giglio (Bruges) in the final. Antonio Marullo (Goteborg) and Alfredo Priamo (Feyenoord) were the semi-finalists. Alessandro Corigliano (Groningen) won the consolation tournament. Congratulations to everyone for another goodevening of subbuteo.

The Berliner Bären Pokal for Jesper Nielsen

The 31st edition of the Berliner Bären Pokal took place this Sunday in Berlin, Germany. 13 players from four nations playing according to the old rules. Every single match had been played in a unique spirit of fair-play without any referees. Jesper Staal Nielsen from Denmark won it for the fourth time after a great final which went to extra-time against Kevin Dyson from England. Rasmus Lund (Denmark) and Phil Holmes (England) reached the semis.
