John Ho Victorious in Melbourne

For the second time this year the Melbourne Table Football Club welcomed John Ho from singapore for a mid-week WASPA Tournament. A strong field of local players faced off against John in what was a very competitive night of table football.

Round 1 began with Benji Batten putting two past Benny Ng to claim 3 points and in the other match, brian Holden claimed his first ever point in a subbuteo tournament holding Dillon Izon to 1 0-0 Draw.

Round 2 started with Benny playing against Dillon- Dillon took an early lead and there would be no slip up from Dillon who held on to take all three points. The second match was played directly after this game and featured Benji Batten and John ho who has arrived at the venue just minutes earlier. John got off to the perfect start and scored a ripper goal inside the first minute. John would score two more goals before Benji was finally able to get one back. A late goal from John saw the game finish 4-1.

Now playing at frantic pace, Round 3 got underway with John backing up with another win against Brian Holden (2-0) and Benji edging Dillon in a thriller (2-1).

Round 4 saw Benji book a spot in the final with a 3-0 victory over Brian whilst Benny Ng produced the shock of the tournament coming back from 2-0 down to take a point of John Ho.

In the final round of matches, Dillon needed a win against John to qualify for the final, whilst Brian needed to beat Benny to finish in 4th position. Dillon fell short but Brian claimed his first victory with his first ever goal in a thrilling match (final score- 1-0).

The final was to be a rematch of June’s tournament between Benji and John. In a very tight first half, John scored late to take the lead. He added a second minutes into the second half but the match was not without drama as Benji pulled a goal back with 2 minutes remaining and the australian very nearly had an equaliser but time was not on his side and John would claim victory in Melbourne for a second time.

As always it was great to host international guests and we are looking forward to seeing John and fellow international visitors for the Asian Cup of Table Football to be played on the 17th and 18th of January 2015, register here:
