Benji Batten takes the season final in Melbourne

The Melbourne Table Football Club played its final tournament for 2014 on Saturday December 13.
8 players were divided into two groups of four with the top two players set to progress into the semi-finals.

In Group A, Dillon Izon began strongly with wins over Tom Nowacki (3-1) and Eial Donnenfeld (1-0) but he fell in his final game to Luke Radziminski (1-2). Luke also defeated Tom and with a draw against Eial, he would go through as top of the group with Dillon following in second.

Group B was an incredibly tight affair with many surprise results. The first set of games went as predicted with Benji Batten defeating Benjamin Ng (4-2) and Benny Ng defeating Matt Metter (3-0). But Benny would fall to his son in the next game (1-2) and even a thrilling victory over Benji in his final game (featuring a long range screamer with one second on the clock) would not be enough to secure him a spot in the semifinal as Benjamin and Benji progressed to the semi-finals.

In the Semi-Finals Luke narrowly defeated Benjamin Ng (1-0) and Benji fought hard to defeat Dillon (3-0). The 7th placed game saw debutant Matt Metter take a maiden win with his first goal defeating Tom Nowacki 1-0.

In the Final, Luke came from a goal down twice but Benji scored a winning goal with a minute to go to win the match 3-2 and take the title.

Thanks to all who played and all who have played in the 2014 season.
